Let's talk about something that matters: pesticides.
Specifically, why Oh Micro! greens are 100% pesticide-free.
But here's the thing โ we didn't get here by avoiding pesticides. We got here by building a system where pests can't survive in the first place.
That's a different story. Let's dig in. ๐
๐ญ The Secret: It's Not What We Do โ It's Where We Do It
Most farms face a problem.
They grow in soil. Outdoors. Exposed to the elements.
That means soil-borne pathogens, wind-carried spores, insects landing on leaves, fungal pressure from humidity โ a whole ecosystem of things trying to colonize the plants.
So they spray pesticides. Not because they want to, but because they have to โ otherwise the crop fails.
We don't have that problem.
Here's why:
๐ No Soil = No Soil-Borne Anything
Our greens growย hydroponically โ in water, under controlled light.
No soil.
This is huge. Like, surprisingly huge.
Soil is the frontier where plants meet every microorganism on the planet. Fungi, bacteria, nematodes, insects โ they live in soil. They thrive in soil. They don't have anywhere else to go, so they either colonize your plants or they die.
When you remove soil, you remove 90% of that pressure immediately.
The water is filtered. The nutrients are precise. The environment is clean.
There's no reason for pests to be there because there's no ecosystem for them to land in.

Our facility is climate-controlled and sealed.
No open windows. No outdoor air exchange. No insects flying in at sunset.
The temperature is constant. The humidity is constant. The light is constant.
Pests evolved to thrive in variable conditions โ they need chaos to colonize. Warm days, cool nights, wet periods, dry periods. That variability is how they survive.
In a sealed, stable environment, they have no foothold.
It's like trying to colonize a spaceship. You could theoretically do it, but the conditions are so controlled and inhospitable that it's nearly impossible.

We're expanding production capacity.
More racks. More vertical space. More growing zones.
And with that expansion comes something we're really excited about: higher variety selection and more customization options.
Right now, we can offer the full lineup โ pea shoots, radish, sunflower, garlic chives, fava beans, broccoli, emerald pea shoots, and our star, peanut shoots.
But with expanded capacity, we're exploring:

Our neighbour farm just welcomed 7 new kittens to the property.
Now, this might seem random, but it's actually kind of perfect for the pesticide conversation we just had.
The neighbour farms in a more traditional outdoor setting โ and you know what farms with rodent problems get? Cats. Lots of them. It's the oldest, most elegant pest control on the planet: bring in a natural predator.
We don't need the kittens (sealed facility, remember? ๐).
