๐ฑ June 2026 โ Quiet Month, Big Movements ๐โจ
We didn't expect it.
On June 24, we got a surprise visit to the Oh Micro! facility.
Not just any visitors โย Hong Kong entertainer ็็ฅ่ (Wong Cho-lam) and his wife ๆไบ็ท (Leanne Li) walked through our doors, toured the facility, and spent time learning about what we do.
But June brought more than just that one incredible moment. Three other significant things happened this month that, together, paint a picture of a farm at an inflection point.

๐ Monthly Donation: Greater Vancouver Food Bank
For the sixth consecutive month, Oh Micro! is donating a portion of our production to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
This isn't a one-time gesture. It's part of how we operate.
Every month, fresh microgreens leave our facility destined for three places: restaurants who've built their menus around our product, retail partners like Sungiven Foods, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank โ where they end up on tables for people navigating food insecurity.
One in four people in Canada live with food insecurity, and nearly 2.2 million rely on food banks each month.
That number matters to us. It's why we show up for the Food Bank every single month.
What we grow is high-quality, nutrient-dense food. The most efficient path for that food is not always the most profitable one. Sometimes it's the most needed one.
๐ฝ๏ธ Two New Restaurant Partners
This month we added two new restaurant partners to the Oh Micro! family.
Both are locally-focused establishments committed to sourcing local, sustainable ingredients. Both understand that microgreens aren't just a garnish โ they're a culinary ingredient that changes a dish.
We can't name them just yet, but the conversations we had with their chefs were the kind that remind us why we do this work.
A chef asks: "Can I get consistent supply of broccoli microgreens year-round?"
Our answer: "Yes."
A chef asks: "Can I request a custom blend for a specific seasonal menu item?"
Our answer: "Now we can."
The facility expansion that started in May is making this possible. More capacity. More flexibility. More opportunity to work with chefs who have a vision.
These aren't just new customers. They're new collaborators.
๐ The Government Just Validated Our Entire Model
Here's where June gets really interesting.
On June 11, Prime Minister Mark Carney launched Canada's National Food Security Strategy, backed by more than $3 billion in investments over ten years, designed to boost domestic food production and build a stronger, more independent food system.
We've been paying attention.
And what we're seeing is the Canadian government saying, very clearly: we need to grow more of our own food, domestically, reliably, and sustainably.
๐ฏ What This Actually Means
Here's the reality: we didn't start growing microgreens because the government was planning to fund it.
We started because we believed in the model.
But what June's policy announcement tells us is that our belief aligns with Canada's strategic direction. The government has looked at food security, supply chain resilience, and domestic production โ and concluded that the exact thing we're doing matters.
That validation matters. Not for ego, but for confidence.
It tells us we're not alone in this vision. It tells us that the infrastructure we're building, the capacity we're expanding, the partners we're bringing on โ all of it is moving in the same direction as national policy.
๐ฎ Looking Ahead to July
June was a month of quiet consolidation and strategic validation.
We've added restaurant partners. We've continued supporting our community through the Food Bank. And we've watched the government effectively say: "More of this, please. We need it."
July brings the mid-year mark. Time to look at what we've accomplished in the first half of 2026:

And we're just getting started.
The government is investing $3 billion in the food system. Some of that will flow toward producers like us who are already doing the work.
We're ready.
